Would I support the development of a “bionic” person and would my view change if it were for a military purpose? Technology has often been developed by the military before reaching the private sector. The internet is the perfect example and like all technology has the potential to be used in constructive or destructive ways. I honestly don’t have a very strong opinion on the development of a bionic person. It has the potential to benefit disabled people and if the option is available and that is the path they choose I support them. With the development of all new technology there is always a cost benefit analysis and if someone is willing to pay for it then I see no problem. The problem is people not technology, although I suppose pro gun supporters use that argument and I couldn’t disagree more. How does Human Intent Affect Health? Intention affects everything we do in our lives. Without intention we would likely accomplish little. I would drink coffee till noon and listen to the birds if I did not set an intention for my day. Sports teams would lounge on the field. Workers would wander away from their posts leaving production at a stand still. Soldiers would wander from the battlefields to pick flowers from the creek beds, (which wouldn’t be such a bad thing). Without intention we would not achieve goals. If intention is core to even the smallest of goals it seems ridiculous to think that intention would not be important to medicine of all things. I would certainly not want a medical practitioner caring for me who did not have the intention of seeing me well.  How much does intention effect the outcome? I suppose it depends. The Distinction Between Energy Medicine and Trauma Medicine… The distinction between energy medicine and trauma medicine is an artificial distinction. No one thinks of their car mechanic as performing energy repair on their car and yet that is exactly what they are doing. A car has fuel, which combined with oxygen and a spark produces combustion, which creates energy that moves physical components by which motion is created. A mechanic works on the system by which energy is produced, regulated, and flows, but we only tend to see the mechanism. We see the sludge in the pipe or the broken seal, not the energy itself. The energy itself is not visible, but can be seen in the movement of the parts the way wind is invisible unless we see the leaves blow. In our medicine we don’t see the qi itself, but we see the qi within the movement of the blood or fluids, in material transformation, or in the signs of heat presentation.
