Developing a bionic person/ And if it were for the military?

Would I support the development of a “bionic” person and would my view change if it were for a military purpose?

Technology has often been developed by the military before reaching the private sector. The internet is the perfect example and like all technology has the potential to be used in constructive or destructive ways. I honestly don’t have a very strong opinion on the development of a bionic person. It has the potential to benefit disabled people and if the option is available and that is the path they choose I support them. With the development of all new technology there is always a cost benefit analysis and if someone is willing to pay for it then I see no problem. The problem is people not technology, although I suppose pro gun supporters use that argument and I couldn’t disagree more. Of course there is the potential to misuse technology, but anything can be misused. Cars, which for the most part benefit us all, despite the environmental costs, are now being used in terrorist attacks. That does not make me question whether or not I support the use of cars in our culture (although I might support more regulations).

Everyone chooses their own path and who am I to decide whether someone should or should not be allowed to alter themselves in whatever way they see fit. While it might not be my personal choice, I don’t have an opinion on whether someone else dyes their hair, tattoos their body, takes drugs, chooses a c-section, cosmetic surgery, a hip replacement, etc… Would my opinion change if it were for a military purpose. Of course! I don’t support anything that is for a military purpose.
